Martin D. Yant Investigations is a full-service licensed private investigative agency with a passion for truth and justice that digs rather than dusts.
Yant has conducted high-profile pre-trial and post-conviction investigations across the country. His investigations have helped free several wrongly convicted inmates. Among them were two men originally sentenced to death who spent 26 years in prison and a couple incarcerated for 12 years on false child-abuse charges.
Yant has also conducted many civil investigations, including a fatal jail beating that resulted in one of the largest civil-rights settlements in Ohio history. In the process, Yant has become adept at conducting background checks, surveillance, skip-tracing and other skills.

Martin D. Yant was an investigative reporter and editor in Pittsburgh, Chicago, Miami and Ohio before he became a private investigator. In 1979, the Georgetown University graduate's journalistic investigations of corruption in Mansfield, Ohio, made international news and led to the jailing or resignation of numerous public officials.
When Presumed Guilty, Yant‘s much-praised book on wrongful convictions, was published in 1991, he left a job as an editor and columnist at The Columbus Dispatch to pursue independent journalism and private investigation.
Since then, Yant has conducted high-profile pre-trial and post-conviction investigations across the country.
In 2002, an investigative series of articles Yant co-wrote on a controversial death-penalty case that won the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists' award for criminal-justice reporting. In 2005, ‘The Washington Post' named Yant's ‘Presumed Guilty' one of the most important books on miscarriages of justice ever published. Writer Steve Weinberg said Yant "is as important for his relentless tracking of wrongful convictions as he is for this much-needed survey of cases."
